Behemoth Update

Just a quicky!

We've been working on some Behemoths for our new Royal Empire range, something to smash up the Guild Heavy Tanks and go head to head with the Khazari Droid Controllers and these beasts are the result. They are in development at the moment, this is a very, very early shot of them missing most of the detailing.

We've been adding plenty of emplacements for people to add sponsons from our vast component range, this allows each Behemoth to be fully customised and to be unique designs.

In addition, because everything we do is modular, if you wanted to go crazy and use Behemoth weapons to soup up your Enforcer or MBT chassis's then it's possible (just don't expect your track to move very fast!).

28mm Science Fiction Romans

I don't often discuss 28mm, but SciBor Miniatures have released some crackers with their new Science Fiction Romans. I think they would make blimming gorgeous Adeptus Custodes for all you 40kers out there.

Bit pricey, but can't fault the look of the chaps.

Exodus Wars January Challenge

Greetings esteemed readers,
I trust that you all survived the relevant celebrations and are ready to progress with 2011.
Steel Crown Productions has elected to host a monthly challenge to the TacComms community, contestants will have until the 25th of each month to submit an entry. From the 25th we'll open up a vote to the community as to which entry they prefer based on the months criteria. The winner will then receive a prize of their choice (any blister) from the online store with free shipping. Only one entry per person can be submitted for judging.
I'll get this typed out in neat and stickied but for now:
The January Challenge: Janus - the two faces of miniatures
Playing with the fact that we are moving from one year to another, we've come up with this particular challenge.
Starting with two identical 6mm scale miniatures (from any manufacturer, not just SCP) paint and convert the miniatures to represent polar opposites of each other. We request that the community votes for the best example of this concept, not just the best painted. Our main stipulation is that we must be able to see that the models were originally the same form. In the case of infantry, it would need be a complete base with one or more figures, again, whichever infantry figures you use they must be identical squads before you start painting/converting.
Examples might be:
  • Two Games Workshop Space Marine Land Raiders, one Chaos and one Imperial
  • Two Exodus Wars Guild MBT's, one Guild and one Edenite
  • Two Games Workshop Imperial Guard Leman Russes, one Ork and one Imperial
Other ideas might not even be faction based, you might opt for:
  • Environmental opposites: An advanced vehicle that has been converted for both aerial and submersible purposes.
  • Age opposites: A brand new advanced version of a vehicle and a rusted, mothballed version lost in time.
  • Camo opposites: Desert camo versus winter camo - especially if the vehicle shows conversion work enhancing it's suitability for the terrain.
Anyway chaps - have fun and I look forward to seeing your entries.
Please submit all entries to my exoduswars.com webmaster address before the 25th. There is no restriction on posting up entries on TacComms prior to the voting to get feedback or show off :p, however we do ask that your miniatures have been started and finished in the month of January. This is as much about getting people motivated to paint as it is to gawp at some awesome miniatures.

Roc Multirole Support Craft

Well chaps, I've had a few comments on the Harpy and though you guys would appreciate seeing the Roc Multirole Support craft concepts.

The Roc in it's standard configuration can be built as an electronic warfare craft with increased electrical equipment and a sensor dome or as a bomber, with heavy ordinance attached.

The Roc can also be set up as a transporter, sacrificing it's internal configuration to allow a troop capacity and removing the Elektra cannon to have a forward assault ramp.

Extra Gubbins and Valkyrie update

The Harpy has had some detailing added to it's bottom. A clamp, this is to enable FTL drives to be attached for star travel or for a heat shield to be fitted for atmospheric entry.

The Transport Valkyrie has been delayed (again) as the casts didn't meet our exacting standards. The mould is now getting recreated and the Valkyries will be recast. Sorry for the delay, we don't want anything that isn't 100% perfect.

Gubbins all over the Harpy!

As you can see, Todd is whipping up Gubbins all over the shop and the detail is piling up. Getting exciting! The long nose/keel/chin part of the design is an armoured sheath that slides up to protect the electronics and torpedoes on the front hull during flight and slides down when the fighter is on an attack run.

Sneak Preview: Guild Harpy Multirole Fighter

Otterman is working on the chassis at the moment and we have the basic shape of the craft pretty much sorted.

Steel Crown Productions Office Party

Yes, I know, it's way too early for a Christmas party. However, I'm all over the shop over the Christmas period so this was the only time I could do it within a period of tranquility and I'll be darned if my company is having it's office party without me.

We opted for the Medieval Banquet in Tower Hill and it was nothing short of rocking.

From left to right Frosty, Drummo, Lenny, Toby, Webbo, Hercules, Dom and Amy.

Frosty and Drummo are friends of SCP, Leonard is a champion physicsman, Toby is an extreme coder, Hercules is a whiz with CAD, Dom is the Exodus Wars product manager and Amy is his fiance.

A mention should be made of the GW chap who we bumped into, being unable to duel with actual swords we opted for a dance off, which I won to great applause. (Go Team SCP!)

Bronzed Adonis

Well... almost, but still we do have the Edenite Walker in bronze and my word it is pretty darned sexy.

We also have our first production casts of the Valkyrie Transport. It is tasty and nice but is missing a tiny bit on the tail, luckily they were the first run, second run is rumoured to be complete.

Question is - what do we do with the miscasts? Start a revolution of course... they'll be joining my NetEPIC Chaos army :D. I've just got to pry them off Dom now, he has become strangely reclusive and keeps stroking them whilst muttering "My precious".

Wednesday, 17 November 2010

Oh dear...

Well, guess what. I came in today to find that Dom was looking rather pale. Upon investigation it turns out that we've run out of Elektra's. He's now been sent whizzing down to the factory whilst I take my promised revenge on his moggy. Panic not though, we've plenty cast so we'll be back in stock within 24 hours.

In other news, Dom is picking up the new Khazari Transport Valkyries and these will be shipped off for painting tomorrow which means - expect to see them in stock shortly ;).
